The soccer moms I know are all agog about 50 Shades of Grey, a novel series that has defined a new category: mommy porn. Most of the mommies I know loved it and aren’t afraid to confess that they’ve read all three of the books. I’m surprised that so many women openly admit to liking pornography.
“Should I read it?” I asked one.
“Well, it’s not very well-written, so you might get impatient,” one admitted. What, didn’t she think I would be able to skip to the juicy parts, too?
I paged through the “surprise me!” option on Amazon. She’s right and so is every critic. Really bad writing.
But what about the porn? I wasn’t going to pay money for bad writing and I couldn’t fathom actually reading any of the books, so I was glad to come across an article that excerpted the “14 naughtiest bits. Have at it HERE.
Who knew so many soccer moms liked it rough?
The book purports to describe some sort of BDSM relationship. That community disavows the author’s take on it. It’s inaccurate, they say.
And then, I found this comment on a website. I’ve lost the citation, so if it’s yours, let me know and I’d be happy to add attribution:
“… what really got me was the female protagonist. It really pissed me off that this woman would allow this hot rich man basically abuse her both verbally, emotionally, and physically in the bedroom. Seriously, what kind of message are we sending!! The only way to “resolve” any issues they had, which really never got resolved, was to have sex so the bitch would stop yapping the asshole could get off. I think that last sentence might even sum up the plot.”
