Another fabulous CurlyGirl Design, and if you don’t look for their holiday cards you are definitely missing out.
The season is almost upon us. You know, the one in which we’re asked to help others.
There are, in fact, 10 other months in our year, but it seems like kindness is always more top of mind this time of the year. When we have holiday expenses and other things on our mind. When we can least afford an additional expense.
I don’thave to rant about the crass commercialism that this season now represents. We all know about that.
All I want to say is this: This would be the very best time to start making kindness part of our every-day lives.
Maybe even making a commitment to doing one kind thing every day.
Could be something very simple. For example:
Let someone go ahead of us in the grocery line.
Pay the toll for the driver behind us.
Smile broadly at someone who looks like they could use it.
Feed the homeless.
Help an animal in need.
Do crafts with a child who needs attention.
Offer an older person a helping hand.
Bring cupcakes to a shut-in.
Take someone housebound to the movies or buy them a video or book they’d enjoy. {Helpful hint: libraries have great used book/video sales!)
Donate just-read magazines to a home for the elderly. Or stop in and READ to someone older who might not be able to see well enough.
Give money if we have it: a little, a lot, it all helps.
See? Eleven ideas off the top of my head in just a few seconds. Then there’s volunteer at a soup kitchen, children’s home, hospital, animal shelter …(fill in the blank)…
This would be the time to commit to a year of kindness. Not so hard, really, and such a big payoff. Because in the end? Only kindness matters. {Thank you, Jewel}

Great post. Sometimes even a smile is an act of kindness. It can light a smile inside another that keeps spreading.
