Acts of Love

June 18, 2009

Preparing food has become an act of love, at least for me, and one of my favorite activities is menu planning for FLH’s next visit.

Today I’m thinking about a nice penne pasta with sausage and ricotta, in a red sauce, with a little salad dressed with balsamic vinegrette and some nice Italian bread. It’s hard to shake our love of pasta with red sauce, given our Sicilian heritage. Can’t have it too often (and I mean that in both ways!)

Or a chopped Italian salad, with salami, nice ham, tomato, parmesan, broccoli, romano, nice lettuces, cucumbers and a crusty bread. Mmm. Does that sound good, or what?
Whole Foods has wonderful cold cuts–the quality is exceptional. I can imagine cutting them up and tossing them with lettuces and some delicious cheeses.

Or marinating some chicken in one of Intensity Academy’s organic sauces and baking it til it’s just tender, then serving with a baked sweet potato and Brussels sprouts that have been steamed and then sautéed in olive oil and a little garlic. Some sweet, cold melon for dessert. I can’t wait til he’s here for dinner EVERY DAY.
