Acts of love

December 9, 2009

This time of year it’s easy to get caught up in the sometimes crass materialism of this holiday season. But it’s good to remember also that many people are hurting. A little kindness can make a difference..

It’s the perfect time to practice little acts of love. Simple things that can make someone’s day a little brighter. And feed your own soul.

Why not pay the toll for the guy behind you?
Let a worn-out mom go ahead of you at the grocery store checkout?
Drop some flowers or books off at a nursing home?
Throw a couple bucks to the Salvation Army kettle whenever you see a bellringer.
Buy that bag of groceries at the supermarket to feed the hungry.
Put change in the charity coffers at store checkouts.

What randon acts of kindness can you do this month to demonstrate the true meaning of the holidays?
