An altar in your world

January 3, 2010

Altars are not just for churches.

They’re an effective way to direct focus every day on our intentions.

I’ve got one in my office now.

A collection of inspirational sayings and mementos. A vision board I made last January at a day-ong visioning retreat. A vision book I made in April 2008 at a North Carolina weekend retreat. Some religious artifacts.

I’ve already begun thinking what meaningful inspiration I’ll place on the altar in my new writing office. On prominent display will be a small plaque M. gave me for Christmas that says Dreams Do Come True. A wall hanging that just arrived from my sister-in-law and nephew, that proclaims Believe. A bear fetish a close friend gave me for my birthday last year.

It’s fun to change it up every so often. Although I do get attached to my inspiration.

Even if it’s just a small space on a dresser or shelf, how can an altar inspire you in your life?
