Be happy

August 18, 2009

At some point, we get too old for the drama. Sometimes we just have to draw a line in the sand.

Relationships of any kind go through transitions. Romance, girlfriends, guy friends–people change and it’s only natural that our relationship dynamic would also change.

Sometimes, there’s no avoiding loss. Sometimes, we grow in different directions. Sometimes, we have to stand up for who we are.

Loss is always difficult. But it’s much more palatable if the result is a drama-free life. A more positive life.

We waste a lot of life dealing with negative energy. If I could say anything to young women, this is what I’d say: Take chances. Jettison negative stuff and people. Laugh. A lot.

Because life passes in the blink of an eye.

I’m reminded of this as I sit here next to M. We were apart almost 30 years and now, here we are, all those years later.

The blink of an eye.

Remember that.
