Because she was looking

July 14, 2010

A few days ago I heard about a woman who had been looking for an engineering job for almost five years. No, she wasn’t on unemployment all that time.

But she’d been laid off and had been really looking hard for a job in her field.

Of course, here in Silicon Valley, there are fewer engineering jobs than now than in the past. But she kept at it. Actively. Clearly, she didn’t need the job for survival, but she did need it.

She got a really great job the other day.

I’m sure there are people out there better qualified for this particular job, and with more current experience.

But she got the job.

Because she was looking.
