Being girly

May 4, 2011

Sometimes, you just have to be girly, there’s no two ways about it. If you’re female, there’s always some pull to the feminine, even if it’s just a tiny little pang. Regardless of age, occupation or sexual orientation.

A local hotel runs a monthly Martinis and Manicures promotion. It engages a bunch of manicurists. And bartenders. Women book appointments. We lounge on sofas, knee to knee with our assigned manicurist, a towel between us, and we get filed, shaped and polished, while we drink the martini of our choice. That’s what I did last night.

Oh, it was fun!

Forget that, in the dim light of the bar, my manicure wasn’t perfection. There was laughter, discussion and a great cocktail.

It turns out my manicurist isn’t too far from my house, and I’m in the market. Her price is right and I’ll be calling her. So for her, this promotion is working and I’m sure it’s bringing business to other manicurists, as well.

It was a lovely night, so afterwards, my girlfriend and I had dinner outdoors at a nearby restaurant. Her charming husband joined us for rousing conversation about all things metaphysical. (Mine was ailing at home.)

Oh, and why the turquoise polish? Just felt like it. It’s a tiny bit naughty. Like my orange hair feather. {Both are far less trouble than a tattoo or piercing.}

I think we’re all naughty girly-girls at heart and it’s fun to find small, harmless ways to express it.

    What? A “local hotel”. Since you didn’t say I’m guess you don’t wanna tell here, but do tell me. On FB perhaps? Message me. This sounds fun.
