I went on the best road trip with my BFF in our twenties. All I can hear in my head right now is Company’s Coming by Poco
I have a CD of car songs in the Vette. A compilation of Jan and Dean, The Beach Boys, The Cheers and assorted others. Two of the best Vette songs were Shut Down by the Beach Boys and Dead Man’s Curve by Jan and Dean. To date i haven’t played the radio when I’m driving. : )
my best road trip songs involve James Brown and Bob Segar. Blaring..LOUD. Motown and Gladys Knight are a close second.
These are still some of my favorite songs (except for Willie Nelson). Even though I keep up with new music, I will always love classic rock.
I guess I have a strange idea of road songs. I like to listen to movie scores from Lost Boys, Cat People, and Bladerunner, all from way after my teen years. (I’m in that half-generation before the Baby Boomers, and I spent my 20s getting married and having babies.)
We have a bevy of nieces in Montana and try to see them every year so it a 12 hour drive. Bruce, Bob, and Van are always good and the score from the movie ‘Wonder Boys ‘ is a favorite !
I love On the Road Again and I Get Around. Once when my daughter and I drove from NC to Ohio, we sang “We are Family” practically the entire way there. Just give me satellite radio and I’ll listen to just about anything.
