I did work as a helper to the camp counselors at a summer camp one year. That wasn’t terrible. I actually liked some of the kids.
We mowed yards, bucked hay, walked the bean fields and detasseled corn when I was a kid. All hot sweaty manual labor work. We had a blast.
The best summer job I had was working at Sea World one summer. It was super fun and I learned a ton.
Great question! Babysitting. I love taking care of babies and little kids.
Hmm, I didn’t mind working at the amusement park. I loved getting free tickets and having fun on my day off.
Every summer I worked at a high end clothing store. They had gorgeous clothes and gave us a huge discount. I dressed better in high school than I do now!
My best summer job was working in Yellowstone National Park! I was only a busser but being able to hike and explore that area was just wonderful!
My best summer job was actually my first official summer job working at a local school in the office. I learned so much that year.
I worked on an army base as a waitress from 14-17 and loved it. We did weddings, and special occasions and made a ton of money. It was something I wish my kids now could do during the summers.
My best summer job was as a waitress at a Steak and Shake. Granted I only worked there 2 weeks, I earned enough that I didn’t have to work any more that summer. *smile*
I worked at a sleep away camp that was run by 4H. It was such a great experience to work with kids in the outdoors.
I think all of my ventures in babysitting when I was a pre-teen was tons of fun. I got to babysit a lot of the neighbourhood kids during summer vacation and I really enjoyed it.
I never really had summer jobs, I worked in a Supermarket evenings and weekends and then as I was homeschooled they got a special license so I could work afternoons when our tutors were finished, it keeps me in a routine and definitely helped.
I started my first summer job at 14. It actually led me to my full time job pre-kids which lasted 9 years!!
My best summer job was working my first job in a restaurant. I met my husband there 21 years ago and we’ve been going strong ever since.
I loved working at a grocery store because it was just so much fun. Summer jobs are great and you meet awesome people as well. Love your story, it’s so nice that you had a great time before going off to college!
I’m not sure I ever had a “Summer job”… I just had jobs that lasted the whole year lol.
I loved having summer jobs, my favorite was babysitting. It’s fun when you get to meet new people and make new friends.
I loved working in a restaurant. It was a fun environment, the work moved quickly, and the money was good. Definitely a highlight of my younger years.
Being a lifeguard was a really great experience. I learned a lot and swam a lot!
I have had an opportunity to work on a farm in the summer. Is was hard, but a lot of fun!
Honestly, working form home and what I do now. You just cannot beat this job!
Great question! I don’t think I ever thought about that. The best job I’ve had was working in the community on health focused initiatives. I smile when I think about it.
The only summer job I’ve ever had was working at Carter Burgers. I loved their chicken and hamburgers to this day and it brings back fond memories of my youth.
I was a summer intern at Farm Sanctuary in NY. They rescue abused farm animals, and it was incredibly rewarding. Not to mention it was really fun to live on a farm and hang out with the animals!
The best summer job was my internship last summer. Through the company, I was able to travel to various cities across the country (free of cost). I love traveling so it was fun to mix business and pleasure lol
Such a funny story! I worked as a nanny for most of my summer.
ABSOLUTELY NONE! LOL! I really, honestly can’t say I had a good summer job. I did volunteer at a therapeutic riding center a long time ago during my summer vacation and I really enjoyed that. Plus, there was a cute boy there I would flirt with all the time, LOL! #boysonthebrain
Best summer job I had was an internship at a newspaper. Back then Internship meant next to no pay (as in $35 total) but provided endless exposure and opportunity in the print community. I wrote articles with a by-line, had my photos printed, learned about offset press and fell in love with pre-press production. It set the path for me becoming a production coordinator and typographer and influenced pretty much everything else in my life from the person I married to the memoir I wrote.
