Boats on the water

Red, White, Blue by Laurence Young

Colorful small boats like these sit waterside in Italian villages,
their colorful paint weather-faded. But still, they take people hither and yon.

They bring to mind rhythmic rocking, relaxation
and the peace of a simpler life.

We may not have a lovely painted boat to rock us into relaxation,
but we can take ourselves to that place in our minds any time we want.

I’m looking for new ways to instill that peaceful feeling.
Any suggestions?

Try reading the newspaper in bed.

  2. Deep breathing stimulates your vagus nerve and enables relaxation. Or, try a restorative yoga class and note how you feel when you’re done.

I enjoy the art/poem combo in your blog.

  4. Yes, reading the newspaper in bed can be a promising start to relaxing, or so I’ve heard!
