Christmas gifts that cost nothing

November 23, 2011

Short on money but still want to give Christmas gifts? Consider a personal services gift certificate, for services done by–that’s right–YOU.

Everyone’s got a talent of some sort. Offer to cook a meal, wash a dog, organize a kitchen, put up some shelves, edit a resume or even iron. These are seriously great gifts!

Here are a few of the services that friends and family might consider more valuable than other sweater, CD or bottle of perfume.

  • Babysitting
  • Snow shoveling or yard work
  • Dog walking, pet sitting, dog bathing
  • Organizing
  • Massage
  • Haircut and style
  • Makeup application
  • Manicure
  • Resume writing
  • Cooking
  • Driving them somewhere–doctor appointments, shopping, wine tasting
  • Car washing
  • Sewing
  • Handyman services
  • Computer consulting
  • Hugs (I gave this once)
  • Ironing, laundry
  • Errand running

See? No money at all. Just your time and love, worth their weight in gold. Why not add your own ideas in the Comments section.

This week I’ve been blogging on Christmas gift ideas. Scroll down for several days worth of tips and ideas for shopping on a budget.

I am giving donations of a Turkey, green beans and sweet potatoes (fresh) in the name of every person that I would have given a gift to instead. Really not that pricey for a 10 pound turkey! I take a photo of me and the gift at the drop off and send it out. People really enjoy this. HAPPY T-DAY.

    Namaste
