Mineral makeup giveaway!

June 29, 2015

Dusty-Rough-WM-300x300The trend toward green and clean cosmetics pleases me. No animal testing? Really pleases me. A skin care line free of parabens, synthetic fragrance, and nano particles? Oh yes.

But having real models actually wearing the actual cosmetics, not enhanced by false eyelashes or photo-shopping? Honesty. Now that excites me.

Even better, Simple Beauty Minerals is a company based in the San Francisco Bay area.  Its president, Lisa, sent me a few samples of its Simple Beauty Mineral cosmetics to try in return for an honest review. So here’s my honest review.20150617_080140You’ve probably bought green tea products that maybe have a smidgen of the tea actually in them. But not this creamy cleanser. You can actually smell the tea’s aroma as you smooth the cleanser on your face. Green tea is an important anti-inflammatory so I wanted to see if it did anything for my constant ruddiness that’s been a byproduct of aging. They don’t say it will, but I figured it could. So I gave it a try for 30 days and then checked again.

The first time I used the product I felt a slight tightening and was concerned that it was drying. Happily, that was not the case. It never happened again. My skin is super-sensitive and since this product is meant for aging and sensitive skin, I knew that what I felt was my skin getting used to something other than the Cetaphil I’ve used for a long time.

And then, I saw a bonus effect of this Simple Beauty facial cleanser. I don’t know if it’s intentional or not, but there is a slight lifting characteristic that I liked and to my surprise, my ruddiness decreased noticeably over a month of use. Score for the Skin Essentials Green Tea Cleanser.

20150502_153348Mineral brow powder in Middle Earth has great staying power. It’s said to double as an eyeliner, but I think that’s in darker colors. Still, I have to admit: I like mine also as an eye shadow.  The color is universally flattering. Its consistency, finish and staying power are terrific.  Mineral cosmetics are new to me, and I’m pleased with what I’ve seen from this cool company.  I know, I’m late to the mineral makeup party, what can I say? But I’m here now!

20150502_153244And then, the lip color. I love this lipstick and carried it from purse to purse so much that now I can’t find it to tell you the shade name! I’m sure it will turn up, but if you go here, you’ll find all sorts of shades, including some that are barely a shimmer.  This stuff stays on and remains true to color the whole time.  (It’s Sweet Spiced Berry and I love it.)

For-The-Guys1-300x300There’s also a lip balm for the guys in your life, which comes as a duo–paired with an after-workout soap. It’s a brilliant gift idea and unique, too. What a nice thing to get for a birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift. In fact, I know someone I’m going to get it for.

The website also has starter sets, accessories (pretty necklaces, rings and bracelets, well-priced).  The last time I looked at the website it had a $5 mineral makeup sample bag–perfect for newbies like me.

Beautiful Lisa Liguori (the owner) calls Simple Beauty Minerals  an honest, down-to-earth beauty marketplace and I can’t disagree.

GIVEAWAY RULES: She’s so excited to have you try it that she’ll give one lucky commenter a free cosmetic gift!  Every comment qualifies you for an entry. U.S. residents only. Entries close at midnight Pacific time tonight.

I am thrilled to find another mineral make-up line. I have been using unadulterated mineral make-up and skin care since the 1980s (long before it was popular). The line I used for 25 years is no longer available and I was looking for a new one. I definitely will check out the labels on this one. Thank you for the opportunity to be placed in the draw.

That’s great! Often you’ll see a model wear something that looks just amazing, you try it on and the results are so not so. There’s so much false advertising these days. This sounds like something I can stand behind.

The brow powder seems really interesting! I have seen a lot of pencil and gel brow products but not one like this before. Looks awsome:)))
