Creativity and tidiness

March 2, 2013
There was a day last month when people at school
kept saying to me “You’re so organized!”
The first person to say it didn’t know me at all,
so clearly, someone else had told her that.
I have no idea who exactly they were seeing,
because one look at my office
would disabuse anyone of that notion.
If I didn’t have a housecleaning service
I probably wouldn’t get around to it very often.
And if they looked inside my head,
well,
I’m pretty sure it would look like my office.
It’s kind of funny how one person might have an impression of you
real or imagined
and then it permeates throughout a group.
“Organized” is not a bad way to be thought of.
It’s just not exactly who I am.
Just saying.
