Easter inspiration

April 5, 2015

Easter-inspirationIs it any accident that Easter, the Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is celebrated in spring, the season of renewal and rebirth?  Not an accident at all.  The holiday also has roots in the pagan world, as pagans also celebrated death and resurrection after the spring equinox.

Regardless, this is a great time of year to institute changes we want to see in our lives. To renew ourselves and maybe even become more the person we want to be.  This is the season of second chances, to me.

I found a few interesting and inspirational quotes you might like today. Regardless of your belief system, there’s something inspirational in every one of these.

Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. — Clarence W. Hall    I like this on a few levels, not just the obvious.

See the land, her Easter keeping, Rises as her Maker rose. Seeds, so long in darkness sleeping, Burst at last from winter snows. Earth with heaven above rejoices… — Charles Kingsley

Let every man and woman count himself immortal. Let him catch the revelation of Jesus in his resurrection. Let him say not mere, “Christ is risen,” but “I shall rise.” –Phillips Brooks

A man who was completely innocent offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act. —Mahatma Gandhi

I know you’re probably getting ready for a big Easter egg hunt or cooking a great meal for family and friends. So I’ll just wish you a happy day, today and every day.  Thanks for dropping by on this holiday.

Beautiful flowers… beautiful thoughts. We’re still having days of snow interspersed with true spring days… very confusing weather. I look forward to unfettered stretches of spring!

Great post – thanks for sharing! Yes, I always enjoy celebrating Easter – spring – and the whole new life, new opportunities idea. Making some changes and renewing some promises to improve areas of my life … yes!

Our weather in upstate New York is confused, too – in the 60’s on Thursday, snow yesterday. But, on Good Friday, my first Lenten Rose flower appeared. I love this season of renewal.
