Giving math another chance

July 17, 2010

Posting this in honor of my friend Ron, a computer scientist whose PhD is in math — or something that has a lot of equations.

His team of computer scientists won the big Almaden Olympics this week.

If math can help win sack races and egg relays, imagine what it could do for the rest of us?

Uhh, ok, truth: I needed a tutor to get through basic college math. And I can not tell you much about high school geometry because it made no sense to me. I was lucky to get a C.

But, Ron’s been such a good influence on me, I’m going to give math another chance.

Maybe I’ll start by learning to balance a checkbook. Ya think?
