Things I’m sick of hearing about

Makethemgoaway.Donald Trump

Deprive a fire of oxygen and it will be snuffed out. Deprive the the bombastic Donald Trump of media coverage and he will disappear into oblivion. Which is where he belongs. Blaming the media completely for this.  Media, stop giving him air time and he will go away.

The entire K family empire

Deprive a fire of oxygen and it will be snuffed out. Deprive the family whose name I won’t say of media coverage and they will disappear into oblivion. Or porn. Which is where they belong. Water seeking its own level and all that. Buh-bye!

Caitlynn Jenner

Ok, we felt for you after the first interview. It was your moment of glory. You should have stopped there, because with each succeeding program, we see you for the ass you are. First, the K family special and soon, I am Caitlyn.  Seriously, girlfriend, you should have quit while you were ahead. It’s past time for you to leave the stage. Where’s the hook?

Bill Cosby apologists

Even if a few women decided to voluntarily take drugs and have sex with him, it is now MORE THAN CLEAR that many did not. It is MORE THAN CLEAR that he used his power, celebrity and money to cover up some really bad deeds. Mrs. Cosby and other Cosby apologists, you are delusional. Bill, hope we can see you in stripes real soon. Otherwise, don’t want to see you again at all. (Covering my ears and eyes.)

Isis

See note above about oxygen and fire.

Well, those are my top five, and funny thing: it’s the national media that keep these idiots center stage. So here’s a sixth:

The Media

You have become a vapid, celebrity-crazed, hyped-up caricature of journalism. Just go away.

OK, readers, the stage is yours. Who or what would you like to make go away? Just name them below and then, poof! I’ll make them go away.

Boy Howdy am I ever with you on this one. It’s really hard to escape it. :/

  2. Ryder Ziebarth says:

HA! Hysterical. I’ll hold the hose with you. Let’s water down the presidential election pre-coverage. That would make for better radio at least.

  3. Adela says:

Lucky for me, I have a DVR. I fast-forward through all the ads and don’t watch the evening news. Haven’t for years. Instead, I get my news fix from several newspapers and NPR.

Still, I’m aware and feel the same about all of the above. Even fast-forward cannot keep my brain inoculated against these viruses. Ugh!

  4. Diane says:

I have nothing to add. You’ve hit every single one of my personal private peeves. To yours, I add my voice. Please. Just go away.

  5. I couldn’t agree more with your choices. There was a time when news was news and entertainment coverage had it’s own place. I miss those days.
I am sick of hearing buzz words like gun control, abortion and climate change. Don’t just say the words to get a reaction or to feel like you are doing ‘something.’ I’d rather hear what you are doing about it!

  6. Debbie D. says:

I’m in complete agreement! Mind you, Donald Trump is often fun to watch. 🙂 I sure hope he doesn’t stand any chance of becoming your president, though. Can you imagine?

  7. I think it’s Dr. Andrew Weil who recommends doing a news fast. Given the crap we’re bombarded with every day, I think it’s a great idea. When I abstain from the news, I find myself much less stressed.

    • I do that, too, periodically.

    • Roz Warren says:

I do something similar — I try to get most of my news from comedy news venues like the Daily Show, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, Real Time and others. You’d be surprised how much you actually learn about world events. And done in a way that makes you laugh. That being said, if I never heard the word Kardashian again, I’d be very happy.

  8. Couldn’t agree with you more, Carol…I am so very weary, as you and your other readers are…Love your visuals, too. I will join Ryder Ziebarth and you in holding the hose! Let’s Do This!

  9. Sherry says:

Fabulous list. I must admit, I’ve missed why Donald Trump keeps making the headlines so I’ve avoided reading about it.

  10. Mary says:

I’m right there with you Carol! Thank goodness I don’t watch a ton of TV, but when I do it is usually on the DVR. I pass over what I don’t want to see.

  11. One thing I’m not tired of hearing about is you! Thanks for another great post. Brenda

  12. With you on the K family and Caitlyn Jenner. I used to admire her when she was the hulk.

  13. Carol Graham says:

    I agree 80% — with all but one. 🙂

  14. Beth says:

I cannot believe CNN is devoting an entire time slot to The Donald. He must be paying them a lot of money for some sort of advertising because otherwise I just don’t get it. Ridiculous! I’m with you on the rest as well although I really don’t want to be “over” Caitlyn. She really does have an important message to deliver but I blame the media for taking it the direction it has gone.

  15. Linda Roy says:

Standing ovation Carol! These are all my picks too. I’m so, so tired of seeing Caitlyn Jenner’s face emblazoned everywhere I go. Good for you, Cait. Now go and organize a charity event or something and go. away.

  16. Kimba says:

How about the use of the term un-American? It’s such a dumb term. There’s no such thing as un-French, un-Mexican, un-British, etc. Every time I here un-American I cringe, it makes us sound vapid and self-centered. Pls make it stop. Thanks.

  17. Sarah says:

I’m on another continent so don’t get exposed to the K family so much (I don’t buy many magazines) and have never even heard one speak!

I’m stumped now? Who do I want to go away? I’ll have a think! 😉

  18. Brava! I agree with you and would add a few more, mostly the whole lot of GOP candidates. It is frightening how many uneducated hateful people live in this country. Enough! Banish them!

  19. Michelle R says:

I completely agree!! I nearly puked when I received my Rolling Stone and saw that K person on the cover…of THE ROLLING STONE!! I’d add Jeb to the list as well. On a slightly different take…I’m seriously sick of hearing about mass shootings. It seems like a weekly occurrence any more. Something is seriously wrong…and I fear society is getting numb to it.

  20. Amy says:

I agree with you , Carol. I haven’t watched the news in years. I am selective about what news sources I read. Something I would like to add to the list is Fox News. Just make it go away, please. And, although I realize that everyone has a right to his/her opinion, I have had enough of talk radio commentators. Whatever side they are on, they are just fueling the political divide in this country and I wish they would just shut up. Yeah, it sells, but if we stopped listening they would go away. I stopped listening a long time ago.

  21. Anti-vaxers. I’d like to take Andrew Wakefield (the fidiot who STARTED the whole damned thing) and put him on a rocket ship and launch him into the sun. And put Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey in there, as well. BUH-BYE!

The entire cast of Fox News. ‘Nuff said.

  22. Haralee says:

Most of the comments have my wishes to disappear, but Trump is like a car accident, you don’t want to look but you are compelled.

  23. I’m so tired of hearing about everything that will help you live longer or stay young forever.

  24. Tammy says:

With you a 100% on this. Not sure which is irritating me more…. Trump or the K family. No wait…yeah…it’s the K family. But buy a very slim margin. Speaks volumes about Americans, doesn’t it? Yikes.

  25. Laurel Regan says:

With you on all of those, Carol! I personally would like to add the phrase “The War on… (fill in the blank, usually with something dumb).” SO tired of that one.
