Gratitude Friday – helpers

August 27, 2010

I’m neurotic when it comes to my little dog.

I admit it. My excuse is that I didn’t have children.

So finding a great petsitter is a big deal. Dogs take more care and attention. It’s not like the old days, when I had a cat. When I leave the country or even the city, I need to feel that someone is on top of what’s happening with our dogs. And I’ve found that in my petsitter and her five-year-old daughter.

This Gratitude Friday I am thankful for A. and little F, whom Riley has adopted as his new best friend. And the care they provide Riley, Little He and Tinker that allows us to leave town feeling comfortable that they are taken care of.

While we were gone this past week, a massive heat wave hit. Temperatures were 100 degrees outside and warmer inside. Our power was out for 24 hours. Our petsitter swung with it. Went through our refrigerator items on the phone with us and discarded those that were spoiled. Inventoried them so PG&E could reimburse us.

And we found our dogs happier than they’ve ever been from all the attention they got.

I am so grateful for the helpers who make our life work. Thank you.

I have a bunch of kids and am still nuts when it comes to my dog. You’re right to find just the right person for your little pup!

Finding people to care for our furbabies while away is so HUGE. I am glad you found someone. I am so done with heat, a heatwave would have made me cry. I am glad it all got sorted. It’s the little things that make the big moments meaningful.

I totally get what you mean about finding someone that you can trust enough to relax when you are away. It sounds like you have more than a pet sitter there!

It’s so nice to have people you can trust with the 4-legged members of the family!

    I don’t judge.
My brother and my sister in law move into my house when we go on vacation.
    Only the best 🙂
