Gratitude Friday ~ the gift of life

The true miracle is not walking on water
or walking in air,

but simply walking on this earth.

Life is the greatest gift of all, and we learn to appreciate that gift even more as we get older. But with all the distractions of daily life, it’s hard, sometimes, to be present in this miracle of life.

I want to share a walking meditation I read on Serenity Hacker the other day:

1. Put your focus on your body’s movements and motions.
2. Notice the mind’s wanderings.
3. Interrupt them by cultivating gratitude.
4. Take a few deep breaths, inhale long, exhale long, and then start at the beginning. Again…

The mind can go in a thousand directions,
but on this beautiful path, I walk in peace.

With each step, the wind blows.
With each step, a flower blooms.

~Thich Nhat Hanh

Today and every day, be grateful and walk in peace.
