The hot summer nights of August are upon us–who could believe summer break is almost over for many kids (and parents).
And yes, talk about hot–some of you have really felt the heat of this year’s hot summer nights! Hope you are finding a way to keep cool. I’ve enjoyed our relatively cool northern California weather and not looking forward to the humidity of the east coast at the end of the month!
Diane
Diane’s mom was a (wink! wink!) Iron Lady, who pressed Diane into service at a young age. And we do mean ‘pressed’! Read all about it here.
Laurie
It happened not too long ago. Laurie was minding her own business when out of the blue…she turned 66. (Yes, she’s one of those women who tell their age and says to heck with it.) If you asked in her teens or twenties, what this time would be like, she would’ve conjured up those old women in “Zorba the Greek”—bent, dressed in black, and shaking their fist at the sky.Instead, something odd happened.
Rita
Did you know Barbie doll was copied from a German risque gift for men? Rita Robison, consumer and finance journalist, has never liked Barbie, because of her unrealistic body shape that leads girls to not like their bodies. With the new movie that’s come out, she’s tired of all the Barbie hype. How about you? How do you feel about Barbie?

Meryl
Meryl Baer of Musings of a Shore Life returned from a two week trip to the Baltics, the countries of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, a part of the world she had never visited and knew very little about. She is planning to write about her adventure in detail, and this week lists the things she liked, and did not like, about her overseas adventure.
