It’s holiday time and that  means friends and family join together, sometimes overnight.

Do you look forward to it? Dread it?  Either way, you’ll be host or hostess and you want to make a house guest feel welcome.

I’m here to help with two posts that will help you make Aunt Irma–or any other house guest–feel welcome in your home.

  2. I have to give these tips a look. I love to have houseguests, but it’s stressful because I’m always afraid I haven’t laid out the welcome mat well enough.

    We have lots of guests in and out all year long. We have a lot of out of town family and since we have a big spare room, they all come here.

    We don’t have house guests over. All of our immediate family lives within 15 minutes of each other; but, I would gladly share this!

    I love to have house guests. One thing that I do that I borrowed from my aunt is to give my guests my master bedroom and we take the guest room. Giving guests a good bed to sleep in during their travels is always appreciated by my visitors.

    I like to make a little spa basket for my guests. We have a wonderful tub with jets so I give them a fluffy white robe and some goodies for the tub. I always want my guests to feel at home.

    I love having house guests and I think being hospitable maks them feel welcome. treat them as one of your housemates. Prepare them nice foods and do some activities while they are staying with your house so they won’t feel bored.

    We seldom have guests in the house. If we ever do, it is my daughter, her husband the the kids. Still, I do want to make them feel comfortable so I will make sure they have what they need ready always.

  18. Wonderful suggestions to make guests feel loved! I especially resonate with the toiletries. The hotels are great examples – I love to step it up a nitch so they feel the bathroom is really luxurious creating a feeling of being pampered <3

    My house guests are usually friends of my children. They stay over when they need to work on a school project or do a study group. These young ones are easy to please. As long as the toiletries are complete, and there is an after dinner snack ready for them, they’re fine. 🙂
