If you change nothing

OMG. I can’t even tell you how much I love this, and how frustrating it us when people believe that there is any chance at all for anything good to come to them without one iota of change. Or, how sad it makes me to see folks who are so resistant to change that they sit in life limbo and justify it by saying they’re fatalistic.

No, give me the seeker any day, the one who isn’t afraid to start of in a direction, any direction. It could be one they choose or one laid out in a plan or one they just happen across.  Seekers are not afraid of the journey–they take that first step and then put one foot in front of the other until something interesting happens. They’re not attached to a linear path, either, or the road most traveled.  It could be they end up where they started, but even if they do, they’re a hell of a lot smarter and more interesting than if they’d just stayed in their safe little cocoon weaving stories out of thin air.

The best writing comes out of experience, I think, which is why I’m drawn to writing that reflects some kind of adventure, internal or external. Action is where it’s at, and it’s not much of a life without one.

  1. Too many people are REactive as opposed to PROactive. I’m with you all the way.
