I’m over him

October 20, 2010

Ok, so here’s the truth.

I didn’t think Obama was ready to be president. And he wasn’t. Good guy; inexperienced. Naive.

I wanted the more seasoned Hillary to win, as you may recall from this post two years ago:

It’s no secret that I believed she was ready. She’d have made a much better president and maybe even a great one.

That didn’t happen.

It occurred to me the other day that I’m over President Obama and his inexplicably bad staff. His coming out of the chute with health care, given the huge economic issues we faced, showed complete naivete. And he didn’t get any savvier.

It’s not just bad PR. Or bad politics. It’s bad president-ing.

I gave him his chance and now I’m done.

And that’s the problem. I think a lot of us on the left are over him.

Fortunately, though, we’re not so over him we’d vote right.

So hey, fellow progressives. Hang in there. It could be worse. SHE could be president: And we sure can’t let THAT happen.

  1. If Hillary had won, we’d feel about the same way, because both she and Obama are from the Democratic Leadership Council wing of the party. The sad truth is that the margins for both meaningful change and intelligent debate in this country are agonizingly small. Obamaniacs and Hillary fans from 2008 need to remember – activists need to keep their expectation levels very very low.
