"It was a story about America…" – Don MacLean

I love what MacLean says at the end about the song. It’s very much a writer’s comment.

And you know what? The Sixties weren’t a perfect time. But even so, it was a more meaningful, more significant and more exciting time to be young and alive.

The air was filled with a sense of hope and promise.

That it wasn’t actually realized doesn’t much matter now. I’d go back to that time to live in a heartbeat.

And given my attachment to that era, the fact that I’ve gotten huge and significant piece of that time back in my life now, for good, is a blessing.
