Oh, I’m an organized thinker, all right. During my career, I got paid good money to think.
But as far as boxes, bins and bags go, I’m hopeless. I just don’t see a place for everything and everything in its place.
The Container Store intimidates me. I walk in and hyperventilate. How on earth would I use all those colorful, cute storage containers? I’d love to have them neatly lined up in my garage ad office, everything in its place, but really, I’m clueless.
Nonetheless, when I finished all my holiday wrapping, boxing and mailing week before last (don’t hate me), I set out to organize my gift bags, tissue paper, gift wrap, ribbons, bows and gee gaws.
What a mess: bags and boxes overflowing with wrap, ribbons and tissue; with boxes and stickers and labels.
But with the help of my rocking husband the Legal Eagle (new name), I organized and consolidated it all into two nice plastic containers.
Gift bags of all sizes and tissue paper fit into one huge plastic bin, with a bag of premade bows, tiny favor bags, gift tags and geegaws tucked into the side. Spools of colorful ribbon are now easily accessible in a plastic box about a third larger than a shoe box.
In a frenzy of organizing, I am now moving on to my office. Wish me luck.
And if you’ve got any organizing tips, I’ll take them.
Where did you find your box to organize the wrapping paper. I like that idea, since we often travel car by to my parents for Christmas, so we could easily slide that in with all the rest of the loot. Did you find the inner compartments, or did it come with the box?
Here you’ll find my blog, some of my essays, published writing, and my solo performances. There’s also a link to my Etsy shop for healing and grief tools offered through A Healing Spirit.
I love comments, so if something resonates with you in any way, don’t hesitate to leave a comment on my blog. Thank you for stopping by–oh, and why not subscribe so you don’t miss a single post?
