Life goes on

March 15, 2011
As I watched the shocking images from Japan on television they seem a jarring contrast with my comfortable surroundings: a new home, a fabulous husband, two nice dogs, cars and computers and flat screen televisions.

It’s hard to fathom that across the ocean, women like me have lost everything: husbands, children, pets, homes, cars. They’ve lost the boundaries of their lives and are forever changed.

When the toughest thing in my life is that my Mac crashed and had to go to repair for five days, well, it’s hard not to feel guilty.

And yet, there are 6 billion of us on earth and life is going on for the vast majority of us.

I want to help, and in small ways I have. But I feel helpless.
