Today I feel like quoting Jeff Brown, my favorite writer on matters of the heart and soul. Because really, they impact our lives so deeply. Love is a great adventure that some of us are up for but others quake at its power and run as far away as we can. I love how Jeff acknowledges love’s power and unique role in our life, then takes it a step further. So, let’s take this as our thought for the day:
However love arrives at your door, it is always a
brave path. It is like taking a long walk in a deep dark
forest and never quite knowing where your soul will
land. It is not for the faint of heart, nor is it ever to be
taken lightly.
Real love is heartcore. You have to be
tenacious. You have to be innovative. You have to be
willing to drop to your knees time and again before
its wisdom. And you have to forge the tools you will
need from your own imaginings, as very few who
have walked the path before can describe the terrain.
Most fell into quicksand soon after the romantic phase
ended.
Relationship is always a spiritual practice, even
when we imagine it otherwise.
~Jeff Brown
Heart-core. He’s right–we do drop to our knees before love’s wisdom. Real love isn’t casual. Real love IS a spiritual practice. My total admiration to all who walk the path of love in an honest and true way.
,Jeff is one heckuva a writer. Check out his latest book, the wonderful Love It Forward, which came out last month.
I never heard of Jeff Brown either, Carol. But what he writes about here seems to be right up my alley. I love all things spiritual, and this resonates with me. Thanks so much for sharing it!
His book, Soulshaping, is amazing, and Love It Forward is the kind of book you want on your bedside table to dip into before sleep. That’s where mine is!
Here you’ll find my blog, some of my essays, published writing, and my solo performances. There’s also a link to my Etsy shop for healing and grief tools offered through A Healing Spirit.

I’ve never heard of Jeff Brown, so thank you for that. Love the idea of love as a spiritual practice.
He’s in my blog all the time. I think you’d like his book, Love it Forward. I’ve sent it to a bunch of friends in the past month.
