Hey, I know. You’re dieting and you’re hungry. You want some flavor and you want some crunch. Oh, how well I know it. You simply can not face another salad, though. You want something new. Snacky. Yes, something snacky. An easy, low-calorie snack.
So when a friend gave me some of these and told me how easy they were to make, well, I was IN. I was IN like FLYNN, as the old saying goes. So easy.
Ingredients
Nasoya wonton or egg roll wraps (or any brand)
Cinnamon
or cinnamon-sugar mix
or lemon pepper, seasoned pepper
or just about any seasoning you like
1. Cut the wraps into narrow strips. If you use wonton wraps, they’ll be shorter than egg roll wraps. But taste the same.
2. Place on a baking tray one layer deep.
3. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Or a bit of cinnamon-sugar blend. Or lemon pepper.
Bake at 350 for 8-9 minutes or until a little golden brown around the edges.
Let cool a minute or two and crunch with impunity! I’m told they are about 3 calories a strip. Just don’t go crazy with the sugar blend, if you use it. Here’s the final product:
Now, some of you are lucky enough to be able to binge on actual snacks, like potato chips or pretzels. Maybe you even need to put on weight. I’m trying hard not to hate you.
I have given up on dieting of any sort. I’m an ‘eat to live’ kinda girl more than a ‘live to eat’ until I go on a diet. The second I decide to diet all I can think of is food. It is totally counter productive so I’ve given it up. That said, I need to lose a little weight and should get out and walk more. Writing is really bad for the waistline…if I still had a waist.
Those strips do look good, though.
