Make an island vacation for yourself today

During 2011, I over-scheduled.
It’s something I do
and then, almost always,
regret.
Because I love my down time.

While it’s true that every moment counts,
that doesn’t mean we need to fill them all up to the brim
with activity.

I like the idea of taking an island vacation
every week or two.
Yes, even in winter.

And without going anywhere.

A day when I lounge around at home
wearing something loose & casual
with a beachy book in hand,
a light, frothy drink with an umbrella
& (with closed eyes) the thought of sunglasses, bright sun
and warm sand underfoot.

The great thing about it
is that I can do this
any time I like.

And best of all:
it’s free.

Try it, yourself!

I once had a tropical themed girls party for my firends and read a childrens book with this exact idea; i have to dig it out to find the name. it was a great party. i made coconut shrimp and other good apps, and had tropical drinks. we played 2 truths and a lie game; fun. beth

When my kids were little, we would plan beach picnics on the family room floor. I’d throw out a blanket, crank up a space heater to it was really warm, get a really bright light bulb in a goose necked lamp to shine down on us, beach attire was required! Wed unpack our picnic basket full of goodies and complain about the ants. After eating, we’d play with our beach ball, and enjoy other beachy games. Way fun, and a great way to put a little fun into a gloomy winter day.

    Thanks for reminding me.
