Make mistakes when you’re young

Mistakes made when we’re young show we’re living life to the fullest, that’s what I think. The world is far more forgiving of youthful blunders, slips, misjudgments than we think.

Mistakes made later in life when we “should have known better,” though, are a little harder to explain away. Or to deal with.

Youth is gone in the blink of an eye. So I’ve always told my college students that this is their time to do everything, take risks, to make mistakes.

Mistakes when you’re young? Most of them are pretty erasable.

Major mistakes when you’re middle-aged may be sign you need some help.

Reminds me of Daddy’s whisper to me when I got married, “Don’t worry, honey, if it doesn’t work out your can always come home.” This from the man who also said, “It’s good to get those first marriages out of the way early.”

  2. Ah, you found a way to sign up! I love the “get those first…” I used to say “good to get that first divorce under your belt early…”
