Morning greeting

January 18, 2010

I’ve been greeting the morning way too early these days, revved up from packing and preparing to move.

Way too early.

But still, I greet the dawn grateful for another day, and especially grateful that it’s with my wonderful husband. Such a blessing.

We had a lovely dinner on Saturday night in Sarasota with one of his former partners, who was in from Manhattan. A delightful man, and his equally delightful 84-year-old mother. And a delicious dinner.

I was taken aback when our dinner companion mentioned that my husband is one of the preeminent lawyers in the country in his field. Not surprised. Just taken aback.

That’s because, although we were together during his law school years and for several years thereafter, we were apart during most of his career. So I have no real understanding it.

How wonderful, though, that we can embark on the adventure of retirement together.

And yes, we’re still packing. Sigh.
