Nail polish is not too trivial a souvenir

October 11, 2011

I celebrated fall in Banff by buying this cute little bottle of aubergine Essie polish. Ok, we went for a nice walk and looked at mountains, too. But this souvenir would be a trip highlight for any girly-girl. And aubergine is just a fancy word for eggplant.

Few months ago I found my perfect local go-to manicure place just half a mile from my house, across from my nearest Starbucks. It’s staffed by a handful of Vietnamese women who do a great mani, price their services well, are fast and most important, are just down the street. In/out.

But along with a $10 manicure comes a crummy selection of polish colors. So, I bring my own. On the flight to Canada I pulled an ad with Essie’s fall collection and marked this one, Carry On. My local drugstores under-stock Essie colors and run out before I can get my favorites, so when I saw this at a Banff Rexall, I grabbed it.

This may seem like a trivial post, but any girly-girl would disagree. Right?

It’s great to be home and concerned with the little things.
