Introducing…heart, mind, soul

May 18, 2015

shtWhen I transitioned my blog from Middle-aged Diva to my own website, I didn’t name it.  To tell you the truth, I wasn’t sure WHAT to name it.  Naming blogs isn’t as easy as you might think.

For months before transitioning, I thought about what I aimed to do with my site. I was sure of one thing. It wouldn’t always be just a blog. One day, it might be a site to promote a book.  I haven’t made much progress toward a book, but I still have that same thought.

I knew that I always write for my own self expression, sharing my heart and yes, even my soul. That’s the real reason I write and post here. But then it became more than that. It became about the readers.  It’s always so fulfilling when I’ve touched another heart or soul, so if you are one of the readers who has told me that in an email or message, you warmed my heart in so many ways. Some wonderful friendships have ensued as a result of this website, too.

Finally, I wanted to have a blog that also engages the minds of smart people. Many smart, thinking people read here and I hope I engage them. When robust discussions happen in Comments, I know I have and that feels great.

But back to naming my blog. I wanted a name that made clear the theme of my posts.  I thought about other blogs I follow. So many bloggers have chosen such clever names that I wondered if any appropriate names remained. So, I just sat with it a while. A long while.  And like most things we sit with, eventually the way becomes clear.

You might not have noticed, but my blog now has a name: Heart Mind Soul

I think that the new name succinctly expresses what I write about here and I hope you agree.

Oh, and feel free to share your own heart-mind-soul here any time. I’m listening.

  1. I love the name, and particularly love the header. I hope you’re keeping that graphic. It took a committee to name my blog, I understand how that goes. Wishing you peace and happiness for Heart Mind Soul.

HI there, I LOVE your new name for your blog, and I agree that it is not an easy task! My original name was 50 Something Woman, but a very kind, writer friend of mine gently reminded me that I would not (God willing) always be in that age group! It’s a good thing she guided me into changing my blog name to Pages From Joan , a play on words using my name, because I will be 57 this summer. I look forward to following and sharing with you! You can find/like my Pages by searching for it on Facebook. blessings for this day to YOU.

  9. I love the new name. I think that unless you do this you can’t possibly know how hard it is to choose a permanent name. I’m not happy with the name of mine and have actually been toying with the idea of changing it. I had talked myself out of it but you never know!

I think naming a blog is extremely difficult! I’m still semi kicking myself for what I think I should have named mine. I love Heart Mind Soul. (HMS:) I was going to name mine body and soul, but you got it right. And I’m glad you didn’t change the header, it’s beautiful. Congratulations on your “new” blog.
