No substitute for experiential learning

July 12, 2011

A man who carries a cat by the tail
learns something he can learn in no other way.

-Mark Twain

I won’t say I’m a “fan” of experiential learning
but I’ve sure done a lot of it.

I’m not embarrassed by it, either.

My mistakes–relatively minor–have made my life a colorful one.

Sometimes, we just have to touch that hot stove
to learn,
and sometimes, more than once.

But after that, with any luck,
we know what “hot” is.
