Omission still a sin, last time I looked

November 25, 2009

So I finally remembered to order a copy of the newspaper in which my “advice to college freshmen” op-ed ran last August. The Syracuse Post Standard.

When I opened the envelope, I had to laugh.

The damn thing ran prominently in the center of the op-ed page, above the fold, complete with a photo of students moving into dorms.

And, a small sin of omission: they never even told me they used it!

We found out by accident.

But I’m glad they did.

Even these months later, I like the piece. Which is not always true. Sometimes, even years later, I see things I would change.

I’ll try to scan it and post it one day.
