Once on Broadway

August 8, 2012

We were lucky enough to get great seats for the new-to-Broadway musical, Once, that won eight Tonys and deserved every one of them.

It was a spellbinding two hours with beautiful and bittersweet music that moved me to tears and movement/dance that integrated seamlessly into unusual staging.

Even M, who is hard to please, gave it a 9 or 9.5, which is high praise for him. Moving, stunning, spellbinding, beautiful music, dancing, motion–all senses and the heart were engaged.

Here’s a highlight video that includes snippets of what we saw and heard, and gives you a little bit of a feel for why we loved it so. The songs Falling Slowly and Sleeping still echo in my ears.

We can’t recommend it enough — I’d see it again in a heartbeat. This video still brings me to tears.

  2. I didn’t see the movie, and now I can’t imagine it. 😉 A lot of people feel the way you do, I read. But I’m just crazy about theatre and the set was so cool, the dancing just added to it, and I just cried my eyes out. The actors were terrific. When even Michael loves it, well….
