One moment in time

May 27, 2009

Just before I fell asleep last night, I was thinking about those significant moments in time when something can go one way, or another, depending on what you do. The decision you make. And that decision changes your entire path.

Life really can turn on a dime in one of those moments. And whether we recognize them or not, life is full of them.

If I follow my path from my childhood in upstate NY, I can see a chain of moments like those, one leading to another, that’s brought me to this moment in Tampa, looking for a home in California with my first husband.

And each step along the way involved things that happened in moments and decisions I made based on those things.

The ones that brought me to my career in Silicon Valley. That brought me to my consulting job. The one that kept me in Florida, although I so badly wanted to leave. The one that allowed me to finally break off with the last boyfriend. The one that allowed me to keep my love for FLH intact, through the years, distance, relationships.

Those moments hold our destiny.

I’m not sure if that means we should make them with more consideration or not.

Reminds me of that old Whitney Houston song.

Give me one moment in time
When all of my dreams
Are a heart beat away
And the answers are all up to me
Give me one moment in time
When I’m racing with destiny
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel, I will feel eternity

You’re a winner for a lifetime
If you seize that one moment in time
