Our sister’s keeper

July 11, 2012

There was a time in my life
when I spent a lot of time helping someone
I cared a great deal about.
“I think she’s taking advantage of you,”
my partner at the time said to me.
(It was an unusual comment for him
so I knew he felt strongly about it.)
I didn’t see it that way.
I believe that if we have the opportunity
to do something to help another,
we should always take it,
even if they are unable to — or do not– repay us.
Just one of those little life lessons I picked up along the way.
It’s stood the test of time, too, I’m happy to say.
