Outsmarted

May 12, 2010

He can be a scamp, a naughty imp, but he is also adorable as hell and I am madly in love with him. I snapped this with my cellphone the other day.

So we are clicker-training him to be less reactive with bicyclists and other dogs. He has definitely associated stopping barking with the clicker and the clicker with a treat.

So last night, he stood on the carpet at the foot of the bed.

Let out a few barks.

Stopped.

Looked at the clicker.

Then at my hand.

Yes. He barked so he could get rewarded for stopping.

Regardless of the training, Riley outsmarts us every time.
