We’re catching a ferry to Bainbridge Island to meet up with a former colleague of mine. But, I didn’t want to leave you with nothing to read so here’s a long overdue post on my fabulous pen pals. One day last week, I found these in my mailbox, all on the same day. Letters from my three new pen pals, coming to me via the project started by Oh, My Darling blog. They were a treat to be savored so I didn’t open them until Sunday.
Heather from Chile hand-made this adorable card. And her newsy letter told me a little about her life in chilly Patagonia. We have a few things in common: we’re writers, she also worked in Silicon Valley and we love travel and books. I was excited to hear she’s expecting a baby! And she and her Turkish hubby are working on getting back to the States some day soon.
Can you guess where Monica is from? That’s right, the Orlando area, not too far from my old stomping grounds in Tampa. And she has a master’s in international journalism and so, she is ALSO a writer! I’m not sure, but I think she doctored up this cute card with Disney punches etc. I like that it so reflects what she loves. This is her second letter–she sent a quick intro right after we signed on.
This cheerful little card came from Amy in Washington state and had a clever greeting insert. Amy has a son she’s crazy about and I loved reading a little about him. This is actually my second letter from Amy–her first had all sorts of fun questions for me. So I stole that idea for our other pen pals. I also love that she’s a photographer and her cool aesthetic is splashed all over her blog.
I’ll be telling you a little about each blog in the future, by the way, and giving you the URLs.
Thank you, Melissa at o-my-darling.blogspot.com/ for this fun project and bring the four of us together.
Oh, and P.S.: I posted my responses to all three before I left California. (The old-school definition of “post,”as in U.S. Postal Service.) AND I bought some really cool notecards here in Seattle for my next letters.
