Retro — longing for the old days

July 27, 2011
I fell in love with this beautiful little address book from France,
old, but still waiting to be filled.

While I enjoy the convenience of having addresses in an online database, there’s something calming, civilized and more personal about having an antique address book full of most-frequently-used contact information.

It’s tiny, but this week, I’m going to start adding important names and addresses. The ones I most often use.

Sometimes, you just have to go back to old ways, even if you accept and appreciate the new.

Are there old ways you still hang on to because they give you pleasure?

  1. The “…for pleasure” part held me up on the question. Otherwise I was ready to say that I still write checks – put on stamps and a return address sticker. Its a decades-long ritual that I don’t particularly care for, but when I flip the flag up on the mailbox, I know you’re gone and paid. I would sweat not paying bills on time because my computer crashed. 🙁

  2. My husband, a banking lawyer, won’t pay bills online because he doesn’t trust them. I do, though. ;-))
