Risk, dreams & looking like a fool

October 17, 2011

I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive
~Oriah Mountain Dreamer
The Invitation

{I’ve always loved this from Oriah.}

I know people
who live only half a life
because they’re afraid of how people might judge them.

In this day when image management
is such a big deal, it can be hard to realize that
looking like a fool isn’t fatal.

And dreams are important.

Others may not always understand you.
But as long as you understand yourself,
what does “looking like a fool”
or anything else
matter?

  1. I love “The Invitation”…and especially these lines. So true. So compelling. SO GOOD! I try to live them every day. Thanks for reminding me, Carol!

  2. She’s inspired me for years, I just love her.

  3. Love this thought. If there is one thing I’ve learned at this point in my life, it is that taking risks are well worth the trouble.
