Have you overindulged? Or are you trying to eat more healthfully?
Trainer Chris talked me into drinking this once a day. He calls it Green Drink. I try not to call it Swill.
It’s definitely a healthy beverage and is more or less palatable, depending on what you put in it. I know you’re just DYING for the recipe, right?
Here’s how he wanted me to make it:
Juice from one lemon (if using a blender)
or one whole lemon (if using a juicer)
Half an avocado
Half a cucumber
1 or 2 celery stalks
1 cup of raw spinach
2 cups water
Ok, so I couldn’t get it all down. It made at least 3 cups or more of swill and it was so lemony my lips puckered so shut I looked like a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills. You might like the lemony taste, though, so try it his way first.
Don’t think too much about what’s in it or you might not get it down.
So next time, I adapted it as follows:
No lemon
Half an avocado
Half a cucumber
1 celery stalk
1 cup of raw spinach
2 cups water
One-third banana
3/4 of a sweet apple
Definitely more palatable. But you should know Trainer Chris frowns on the fruit. Too much sugar.
So the third time I reduced the apple to 1/3. Not quite as good. It made 4 cups. I got almost 3 down.
Oh, and don’t worry about the spinach. It has no taste at all, honest.
Trainer Chris and his henchman, Trainer Aaron, maintain that you can train your taste buds to think this stuff is good. Trainer Aaron insists it tastes sweet to him, and he omits the fruit completely. Except for lemon.
