I wish I could put up a photo Carol but the best I can do is a link (https://au.pinterest.com/pin/360147301423302621/) this is what I feel like sometimes – and mostly people don’t get it – but when a song speaks to your heart at a particular time you just have to dance – or play it over and over again. We all dance to our own beat don’t we?
How true!
With my hearing loss I sometimes don’t hear the music, but I dance anyway! Love this quote!
It’s all in my head, anyway!
Another interpretation of this quote could be how one person can still be happy and positive despite being in a situation where others might want to stay down, be depressed, etc. 🙂
My husband and partner, Alan, hears music all the time. It comes from a place deep down inside and no one else can hear it. He is always tapping his fingers or playing on an invisible keyboard, thrumming on his jeans as if he were a human drum set.I have always been curious, but he has been unable to satisfactorily describe the music he’s hearing. He does make my life interesting….love you and your posts, Carol…
I need to dance more. I think we should open up discos for old farts. That would be fun. I live with a retired guy who I heard singing in his office to My Fair Lady at 4 in the morning. I worry about him.
I love to hear music. Before sunrise is my favorite movie and last week i have heard song from that movie.
When I’m not sleeping at night, I sing in my mind to old songs. Unfortunately, now I am only hearing tinnitus, I think only in one ear, but not sure. Sometimes, I’ll notice and think, “Oh good, no ringing in my ears today.” Every so often, I need to go and have the wax cleaned out. This might be the time.
Lovely clear day today..a welcome change.
I think it’s a variation on the idea that some folks march to the beat of a different drum; that our beliefs, ideals, passions, whatever, take us in directions that sometimes go against the grain or the mainstream. Some of us hear that different beat and are perceived as nuts. Oh, well!
Cute post! I definitely dance to my own music. lol
there is always some sort of song going on in my head. I believe keeping a song in your mind and heart helps make your day go better
come see me at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
That’s a neat saying
Dancing is my passion. Its my stress reliever hearing music then dance in my own way.
I dance to my own music often! I’m like that Ally McBil chick.
Whenever I am doing cardio, I need loud music in my ears! When I’m sad or feeling low, I love to hear ‘Let it go’ from Frozen!
I am a big time music lover. I listen to music all the time and relate it to my life. There are many times where I play a song in my head to a situation that is going on. My husband is definitely not like me, he finds it funny how much I relate my life to music.
This quote reminds me of the magic of having a vision and a dream that no one can see but you.
The quote reminds me of one of life’s many realities – To be yourself. To bask in your uniqueness even if you may seem weird in the eyes of many. Do not try to be someone else just to please others or to blend in. As an old cliche goes, “Why try to blend in when you were born to stand out?”
There is this song out there that when I hear it I stop what I am doing and focus on the song because it brings me back to a happy moment
Love that quote as it’s so very true! I always felt as if I danced to the beat of a different drum and I’d never change it for anything!
I’ve always loved this quote because it motivates me to keep following my dreams despite the fact that there are people who continues to question me or block my path. This is definitely one of the best quotes I’ve read in my life.
That is so inspiring especially if there are lots of people who are against in following your dreams. Great quote.
I often break down into tears and people think I’m crazy, but I can’t explain the beauty of what I see that they don’t. It might be the angle of the light on an autumn day or the chord of a song or watching someone who is so clearly living their truth–I once started sobbing watching a woman direct a children’s choir! I used to say that some things beat at the same frequency as my soul. That’s as closely as I can come to explaining it!
