Several blogs I am now following

March 27, 2009

I’ve found two interesting men’s fashion/style blogs recently.

When I went to high school, men were either “continental” or “collegiate”. The Continentals wore pointy-toed black shoes, sharkskin suits, and the like. Collegiates, which we shortened to “coleeeges” were the preppies of my day.

Guys today tend to all look the same. The most individualistic I see around is the bow tie, and even then, you have to work really hard not to look clownish.

But sometimes, a man develops a style of his own. That’s what these two blogs are about.

http://anaffordablewardrobe.blogspot.com/ is written by a New Englander who loves preppy clothes and haunts thrifts to pay pennies on the dollar for them. I love his style, both of dress and writing.

http://dandync.blogspot.com/ is written by a northern California man who is leading a reform dandyism movement. He stresses individuality as well as affordability. I like the unique old-school flair he brings to men’s fashion.

Check them out–fun stuff and maybe an idea or two.
