Soft light hold me

Chant
Hold me hard light
Soft light hold me
Moonlight in your mountains fold me
Hold me hard light, soft light hold me
~Leonard Cohen

I’ve been reading a lot of Leonard Cohen lately,
one of the newer biographies about him and also
his selected poems.

It seems like just yesterday when I heard
Suzanne for the first time…tea and oranges
that came all the way from China..

Cohen is quite old now, almost 80.
His body of work in music and words is huge
and significant.

He’s still on tour, though.
I wasn’t able to attend his last concert here
but have a girlfriend who loves him, too
and hope he comes back when I can see him.

He was quite a ladies’ man in his day
which seems like just yesterday
but isn’t.

I wonder:
What do ladies’ men do when they get old?
