Summer time, summer time, sum-sum-summer time

August 14, 2022

The end of summer is just around the corner and while I love the fall, I’m not letting go of summer time easily, how about you?

Rebecca’s not letting go easily, either

Rebecca Olkowski, with BabyBoomster.com, spent a few weeks in the Napa Valley taking care of her brother’s pets near the charming town of Yountville. It’s not only filled with art but also several Michelin star restaurants. She wrote about the town and made a video walking tour which you can read about and watch on her travel blog here.

Laurie’s got something for you foodies

Do you like restaurants? Most people do. As a friend once said, there’s something nice about “seeing and being seen.” But even the best eateries have challenges and things that irritate or even perplex. Here are Laurie Stone’s top eight…

Diane loves to read

It’s something that has been with her since she was five years old. Sitting in her grade one class in Milk River Elementary school in the fall of 1960.And she knows exactly whom to thank!

Jennifer is also an avid reader

Jennifer, of Unfold and Begin, loves books and each year writes about Banned Books Week, in September. But she was completely surprised to find out a town in Michigan banned its library. In Are They Banning Libraries Now, Jennifer shares how a group of small-minded people using language meant to create a moral panic managed to do just that.

Rita’s talking to car owners today

Watch out for problems when you buy a car or have one repaired, says Rita R. Robison, consumer and personal finance journalist. Once again, complaints on car purchases and repairs have topped a survey of the top consumer complaints for the previous year.

Tom’s talking retirement accounts

Last week Tom from Sightings Over Sixty took his RMD from his IRA. Perhaps you only know what that means if you’re of a certain age. But for all of us, no matter what our age, in Will My RMD Save Me? he looks at the importance of our retirement accounts, as well as Social Security, to see if they will serve us well … and if they will last as long as we do

And we’re all singing a chorus of Summer Time as we move closer to autumn.

Thanks for sharing such a cornucopia of links to learning!

I loved the informative walking tour of Yountville! Such beautiful sculpture!

The blog about finding the first book
she learned to read was so sweet!

    And on banning books!!
    Hard to fathom!

    I kept googling this weekend
to learn about Rushdie’s medical condition.

So relieved and happy he’s going to survive his horrific stabbing.

I can not imagine living under death threats for 30 years for what I wrote!!

Hard to grasp the reality of his life
and the very real prices he has paid
    to be a writer!!
