Taking it personally

November 12, 2009

I read this the other day:

“Take nothing personally, because then you own it.”

Most people don’t set out to hurt others. It’s usually a byproduct of something they’re doing because of their own issues, not yours.

It’s hard to remember that, though, when you’re in pain.

The concept of not “owning it” is an important one. Carrying that pain and aggrieved feeling is not healthy. Some people believe that diseases like cancer are related to that kind of dis-ease.

We own enough of our own stuff. Why own someone else’s?

Letting go. Forgiveness. Not taking it personally.

All related. All life lessons that can only enhance our lives.
