The dog days of summer

It was a hot summer day on Santana Row in San Jose when we encountered this motley crew of dogs hanging out together with their owners and walker. Big and beautiful.

You can tell how hot it was by the way their tongues are hanging out. These days are definitely the dog days of summer.

Fortunately, the dogs could wet their whistle along the way as doggie water bowls sat outside many retail storefronts.

They were grateful pups, too, and made liberal use of the bowls.

These dogs were all happy and super-friendly.

The face on this Rottie (mix?) belied the breed’s reputation.

I am so not coordinated enough for this. Those leashes would turn into macrame.

It’s cute overload, isn’t it? I think that little white dog is the cutest bichon ever.

This dog definitely epitomizes the dog days of summer.

  1. Cute dogs! I wouldn’t fancy being the one who had to walk so many all at once. I’m sure I’d trip over at least one lead before they all go knitted together. Lovely photographs.

  2. Ri is the cutest out of all of them xo

  3. The whole lot of them–So stinkin’ cute!

Ah, makes me miss my Toby boy. I think I need to be a dog borrower for a while though, rather than a dog owner. Riley IS the cutest though.

  5. What a cute post Carol! BTW, just went to Santana Row for the first time with some girlfriends. Loved it!

  6. Oh, I miss my Newfy now. I love the dog days of any season! Such cute pictures!

  7. Roz Warren says:

Nope — the cutest dog face in the world belongs to Captain, our Yorkie-poo, who was snoozing on a pillow beside me as I enjoyed your post. Thanks for a great start to the week — I can look at dog photos FOREVER.

  8. I love dogs. There is nothing like socializing them out on the street to teach them to be calm and steady!

Funny, Bubs, my son’s dog who lives with us, won’t drink out of other people’s bowls. Persnickety I guess!

What beautiful pictures of adorable dogs. A friend just told me that she has started a “dog sitting” service for her friends who go on vacation. Maybe I need to think about something like that too so that I can share the joys of having dogs.
Thank you for sharing the lovely picutures of the hot day in San Jose

Cute dogs! We spent all day Saturday washing 300 dogs for my friends’ annual fundraiser. It’s always so fun to see the different breeds, and which owner goes with which dog!

I love dog friendly restaurants and coffee shops when they put out water bowls. I admire people who can walk more than 1 dog at a time! I never learned that skill set and then of course my dogs were obedience school drop outs so we all had limited leash skills.

I love dog days! (Which are most days around our house!) And I have a real thing for pictures of cute little doggies and people who love them! Thank you for sharing!

  14. Helene Cohen Bludman says:

I could look at dog pictures all day long, and these are just precious.

  15. Dog days indeed! I have memories of walking our Irish Setter, Old English Sheepdog and Norwegian Elkhound on 3 leashes when I was about 10. More than once, one got away! Fortunately not the red setter – she would have headed straight for the nearby chicken farm … which was why all of them were fenced in the first place!

  16. Oh my goodness, the cuteness. But yes, my coordination would not allow me to endeavor such a thing, either! LOL

  17. Well you know I am a glutton for doggies:) Loved these pics!

Dear Carol, Regarding your comment on Roz’s essay about breaking your toe on WVFC: If you are afraid that you might fall, you probably will! I hope not, but I’m just sayin’…

Oh such cutie doggies! I’m a cat person because having a dog is like having another kid 😎

  19. Kathy says:

So many cute dogs! The cutest is sitting beside me . I definitely admire people who can walk multiple dogs. I would be wrapped in the middle!
    Thanks for sharing
