We took the train down to San Jose yesterday and spent the day with our Realtor. We are very good at quickly assessing if a home fits our needs–we saw at least a dozen homes before we high-tailed it back to San Francisco for dinner and Alcatraz.
Frankly, we didn’t see much. FLH loved a gorgeous 6 BR 4Ba house that was way too big for us, but really incredible. And the price wasn’t that out of line. We would’ve made an offer on it…but when we went outside, the freeway noise was deafening.
A shame. A home built when ANYTHING was getting multiple bids, regardless of the location.
We are watching another one that’s been on the market only 3 days. We don’t think they’ll go for our price this early, so our Realtor is watching it and if the price falls, we may make an offer long distance.
Our second choice home from last month, one with good bones but that needs significant updating, is under contract. If that contract falls through, as at least half are these days, we’ll swoop in with an offer.
I’ve focused mostly on my favorite parts of the South Bay: Los Gatos, Willow Glen and surrounds. Frankly, I thought it would be easier to find a house at our price, which is pretty reasonable for the area.
But now I’m mulling over looking at the nicer parts of Sunnyvale, Mountain View & Los Altos. As well as the wine country: specifically, Glen Ellen & Sebastopol.
